私が日本に抱いていたイメージは、武士道、サムライ、強さ、礼儀、
そして無敵の男が持つ一分の隙もない精神力、そんなものばかりだった。
ところが日本に来た私は失望した。
確かに深い尊敬の心を感じたが、それは強さや精神力ではなく、
むしろ弱さから生まれるものだったからだ。尊敬の心が感じられても、
それは他人の人生を邪魔したくないと怖がっているからだったり、
他人の意見を聞きたくないからだったりする。
もう少し自分を出し、エネルギーを出しきって生きれば、
どんなに幸せになれるだろうかと思う。
